Well, actually a crappy night and THEN a crappy day. Started out pretty nice actually, my husband took me to dinner, we took a look in some local shops that were incredible...not a bad evening. Then for some reason, my brain decided it was going to pull an all-nighter. I didn't sleep AT ALL. I took a sleep aid and my endocrine system just laughed.
Then the sun came up.
I went to work. One of my coworkers showed up TWO HOURS LATE. This same coworker then tells me that she'll be taking a week-long vacation, meaning that all of next week I will be working with a skeleton crew. Then my boss shows up and tells me that I've been passed over for promotion, and instead they've decided to hire someone from outside the company to fill the position, despite the fact that this new person has three years less experience than I do, doesn't know the first thing about our procedures OR the programs that we use, and I have a $35,000 college degree...which apparently means nothing. It probably has something to do with the fact that I'm in my twenties, and she is in her fifties (management logic: "because age means more experience"). Facepalm.
As I'm writhing on the ground, life decides it would be a great time to strap on some cleats and kick the fudge out of me, just for laughs. As a lame attempt at a pick-me-up, I tried to go to my local Sonic to get a slushie, only to be informed that they were closed for remodeling.
It has been...
A crappy day.
